Multiplayer gaming is extremely top heavy, the vast majority of players play those 1% to 2% of ultrapopular games at the top, and the other 98% of multiplayer games get scraps for players. Single player was the backbone of video games for decades, and it still is crucially important for most games. That doesn't mean I owe them anything, though. Making games doesn't seem like a financially worthwhile endeavor for many developers, unfortunately.
